PPS Plus and PECOS: A New Way to Verify Enrollment
Posted on September 21, 2010 in Press Releases Software
Last week, PPS Plus Software released a software update to its Home Health Edition v6 designed to help home care agencies navigate through one of CMS's latest regulatory systems, PECOS (Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System). PPS Plus Software's PECOS Enrollment Validation Report, allows agencies to quickly identify the current enrollment status of physicians as listed in Medicare's electronic database.
This new report promises to dramatically lessen the load for administrative staff while ensuring that his/her respective home care agency is in compliance with Medicare regulations; those physicians who are not enrolled in PECOS will not be eligible to order or refer Medicare patients for home health services.
The report is already receiving praise from users in its first week of use. Penny Lovitt, VP of professional services at Deaconess Home Health Care credits the report's user-friendliness and accuracy in helping streamline her workflow. "PPS Plus Software's PECOS Enrollment Validation report allows my agency to quickly and easily identify physicians who have or have not enrolled in the Medicare Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System. This tool saves my agency time by giving us an automated way to obtain this information, allowing us to focus on our most important objective -- patient care," she said.
The PECOS Enrollment Validation Report is currently only available to PPS Plus Software customers with active Home Health Edition accounts, but plans are underway to offer it to non-customers as a stand-alone application.
