What is included in PPS Plus Software’s ICD-9 Coding and OASIS review services?

For each assessment reviewed, a complete review of the data is performed to identify clinical inconsistencies, errors, or missed items. You will then receive notification of the suggested codes and items that should be reviewed before submitting to CMS.



How will I be notified of the findings?

A worksheet is emailed back to your agency in a secure PDF form with the findings and the suggested diagnoses codes.



How does PPS Plus get my assessments?

There are three main ways in which we get the documents for review. Many agencies fax the information directly to us for review. Some agencies choose to scan the documents and email them to the reviewers. Another option agencies have is to set up a remote computer connection so that the reviewer can log directly into your clinical software package and review from there.



What documents does PPS Plus need in order to complete a review?

The more information you send the better. We definitely need the complete assessment, including the OASIS, the med sheet, the plan of care (if available), PT eval (if ordered), referral form, and any information the doctor’s office or hospital may have sent to you.



What is the turnaround time?

We understand that agencies have deadlines to meet. We strive to have assessments back within 24 hours.



Do I have to sign a contract?

A contract is required. The contract is open ended (you are not locked into a certain number of months) and all that is required to terminate the services is written notice. The services will be terminated at the end of that calendar month.



Who will review and code my OASIS?

The PPS Plus Coding team, which is made up of nurses who are certified OASIS and ICD-9 coding experts, will review and code your OASIS. Your agency will be assigned a team member depending on your volume.



What about HIPAA compliance?

A Business Associates Agreement will be signed in order to stay compliant with HIPAA guidelines. The fax service that PPS Plus utilizes complies with the HIPAA guidelines and worksheets will be sent back to you encrypted and password protected.
