I just wanted to provide you with some feedback on my experience with the coding department. IT IS FABULOUS! I only wish I would have done this sooner! Your staff is fantastic; they helped us out in a pinch last week when the state was here, and have been resourceful with teaching us some new things. Mostly, in our positions, you hear the negative. The positive is never quite at the forefront of things. I just wanted to take the time to tell you how pleased I have been with everything and plan to continue this relationship on a full-time basis. We have all of our coding done by PPS Plus. We scan the OASIS, referral information (including info from the hospital), care plan and meds and send via email (HIPAA secure and password protected). Within 24-48 hours, the PPS Plus experts review, code and send us a sheet of codes for 1020, 1022, 1016, 1010 and 1012. They also review for appropriate OASIS items and make suggestions for further review (e.g. "M1810 and M1820 need to be reviewed taking diagnosis and safety into consideration.") The PPS Plus experts are up-to-date with the latest OASIS and coding issues and changes. They recently called our attention to the latest change in one of the OASIS responses regarding wounds before it was even on the NAHC listserve!

Getting signed up and started was a breeze and working together via remote computer hook-up is very manageable. Consultation with the assessing RN is ongoing and collaborative. What is included in PPS Plus Software’s ICD-9 Coding and OASIS review services?

For each assessment reviewed, a complete review of the data is performed to identify clinical inconsistencies, errors, or missed items. You will then receive notification of the suggested codes and items that should be reviewed before submitting to CMS.
